LINKS
AN ONLINE PRESENTATION
VOL 04, 2023

Over the course of six months, between April to October 2021, Caddisfly Project worked with 21 selected artists on an experimental project called Links in which we set out to create, discover, and observe connections with each other.

Links, at its core, is a mapping project. By creating and fostering artistic relationships we hoped to document the connective tissue of a global artist community. We saw Links as a virtual happening—a snapshot of the uncanny alone-togetherness that we were all experiencing. This was our attempt to build a scaffolding matrix for the growth of certain types of output across distances in challenging times.

Artists were given the option to partner with each other in correspondence. Exchanges were made via any method such as traditional letters, artwork in any medium, suggestions, instructions, prompts, poems, lists, etc. The outputs were as varied as they were distinctive and personal to each artist and partnership. We are happy to share this special online presentation of selected work from Links.

All objects are interconnected and can be part of what physicist Brian Greene calls a “quantum mechanically entangled whole.” In this world, objects depend on each other even if they are separated by distance—inches, miles, lightyears. In this entangled whole, nothing can exist independently on its own.

What does that mean for us? We, who are not physicists, but artists? How can we explore our own interconnectedness through what we make? How can we better understand or rethink our place in the world, our aloneness, or togetherness, in a time of global crisis? What are the connections or links that keep us moving and vital?
